The really early days
I was destined for a writing career out of the chute.  As a little kid, I was a prolific story maker-upper.  Writing assignments were a favorite all the way through school.  Something just clicked and I couldn’t shake the bug.  After college graduation with a degree in consumer science and communications it was time to join the grownup world for real. I landed a job on the West Coast, packed my bags, and waved goodbye to family and friends. The adventure was on!

Life of a working girl
My career began in corporate and marketing communications for food, agriculture and consumer package goods. I was one lucky girl and got to work in some really fun jobs that fed my creative side and laid a solid foundation for exciting ventures to come.  It was a time of new challenges, more learning and meeting lots of great communications pros along the way.  I'm so thankful to the folks who hired and mentored me during the early days, and will always remember these jobs with a great sense of appreciation:

  • Japan Foods Corporation, San Francisco, CA - Food publicity
  • Daniel J. Edelman Public Relations, Chicago, IL - Media spokesperson
  • California Avocado Commission, Irvine, CA - Director of public relations and media spokesperson
  • Landry & Associates, El Toro, CA - Director of client services

Time to strike out on my own
Eventually, I opened a freelance writing and publicity service. During the early days, I provided copy and editing for print and broadcast media.  Of course times have changed and I have too.  My services today include content for all-things digital like email campaigns, blogs and websites.

Niches and favorite subject matter
I've written copy for lots of different industries and subject matter like food and beverage, agriculture and nutrition.  I’ve also entered the world of restoration contracting/disaster recovery and find the writing jobs really interesting, and actually, quite fun.  The bottom line is, I’m ready to work on familiar subjects and more than happy to tackle new ones.
